Headshot 3 - A Closeup of the Dio-Yo

Headshot 3 — A Closeup of the Dio-Yo

In Brief

Autumn quarter of the 2009–2010 school year, I was in a class called “Design and Manufacturing” (ME203). We were tasked with–you guessed it–designing and manufacturing something of our choosing, as long as it was made of metal or plastic, and had more than one part. Having been a big fan of the yoyo craze when I was a kid, I figured this was a great opportunity to finally get an amazing yoyo to do crazy tricks with. I would create a beautiful, high-performance object in Stanford’s cardinal red. Ladies and gentlemen, I present to you: The Dio-Yo.

Design Process

I’m currently transferring my logbook into digital form, so I’ll be filling this in later. Check back soon for a full run down of how I created it from start to finish. In the meantime, I’m sure you want to see proof it works, so check out the video below (or click here to see it at youtube).
